La Morera Playa for boat lovers

With its precious Marbella frontline beach location, La Morera Playa is made for lovers of the sea. Usually, such a beachside location has to be shared with many in a rather built-up area, due to the premium value of beachfront land, but owners of the apartments and penthouses at La Morera Playa enjoy an altogether more privileged location. Set upon a very private curve of the coastline that looks back across the sweep of the shore to Marbella and further round to Gibraltar and North Africa, the setting sun casts the evenings in a beautiful golden light.

Not only is this section of Los Monteros beach tranquil and private, but the gated development is also set within a hectare of landscaped gardens and borders private villas in a peaceful suburban road with no passing traffic. It sets the tone for life and full enjoyment of the sea and beach in what is one of the last remaining beachfront locations of its kind in Marbella and the Costa del Sol.

Taking to the sea

There are also many opportunities to head out to sea and enjoy a wide variety of water sports and leisure activities. Surfers and kite-surfers gather at a chiringuito beach bars nearby when the winds favour the sport, while there are no fewer than three yacht harbours and one authentic fishing harbour within a short drive.

The nearby La Bajadilla fishing harbour of Marbella, just five minutes by car, is a fascinating spot in its own right and possibly the best place in the area for fresh fish and seafood in authentic local restaurants full of Spanish charm. A little further along the coastal promenade, at the heart of Marbella, you will find Marbella’s own charming marina, home to a very active water sports community and also close to an array of restaurants and nightspots. The yacht club itself is a wonderful spot to enjoy lunch or dinner with some of the best views in Marbella town.

Venture a little further west and you come to the famous, glamorous marina of Puerto Banús, where large luxurious yachts and veritable floating palaces are flanked by luxury restaurants, designer boutiques and sports cars. It’s not the easiest or cheapest marina to keep a yacht, but like the others does offer a wide array of boats for charter, complete with chefs and waiting staff. Jet-ski, scuba diving, snorkelling and parasailing are other activities on offer, including whale watching excursions and so-called party boats that make the run between Marbella’s two marinas.

The marina that feels the closest to La Morera Playa at Los Monteros is Cabopino, just a short drive away and ensconced within an entry between the prettiest dunes in the region. Cabopino marina is generally regarded as the most charming of all the yacht harbours on the Costa del Sol, and it too it lined with attractive eateries and a long sandy beach. It’s the ideal location from which to head out by boat and skirt the shoreline, looking for a little cove in which to drop anchor, or even set off from across the sea to Marina Smir in Morocco.
